Who We Are

Wajid Khan - Nail Artist

Wajid Khan – Artist

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever” – John Keats’s immortal words…stands true in all ages, and very true for the creations of the gifted artist Wajid Khan. The more you know him, the more you realize that you do not know much about him. He is a painter, inventor, sculptor, thinker, designer and everything that encompasses the definition of an Artist.

An ‘artist’ is a dreamer, consenting to dream in the actual world and Wajid Khan is no exception. He dreamt of giving the world an endowment in the form of an art & thus, came into existence the most amazing ‘Nail Painting’

The first Nail Art or Nail Painting came into being in the year 2005 after dedication and rigorous efforts of approximately three years.

It was just hammered nails for others, but for Wajid Khan, it was a portrait. One nail trailed another and then hundreds and thousands with enduring and strenuous efforts. Great imagination enveloped with extreme patience gave birth to a beautiful substance out of crude iron nails. The first attempt of three long years was a humble tribute to Mahatma Gandhi-Father of the Nation.

Nail Art not only belongs to Wajid Khan but he has patented it. It is an art of hammering iron nails into a hard acrylic/PVC foam sheet to create unimaginable portraits or abstracts with fine details of facial expressions of the object. Wajid Khan has literally perfected his art and now takes merely 3-6 months to complete a single nail painting.

Indian Nail Artist

As said earlier he is not just an artist, he is much more than you can ever imagine about him.Wajid Khan was born on 10 March, 1981, in a small village of Songari in the district of Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh (India). At the age of 14, he invented the world’s smallest Electric Iron. After this invention, he went on to invent a water theft device and a centralized touch-activated switch for household appliances. He also created a painting on canvas, which was apparently world’s first 3D painting.

Another dimension of his personality reflects in sports. He has been a sturdy Rugby player and was associated with ‘Indian Rugby Football Union’ as General Secretary.

Numerous people have admired and honored the incredible work of Wajid Khan under the name of Wajid Art. However, he feels the most close to his heart is the appreciation and encouragement he received from the former President of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. Khan has been fortunate to spend productive time with Dr. Kalam at National Innovation Foundation, a research and invention wing. Summing up seems just impossible while critically appreciating the creations of Wajid Khan. With over 140 inventions to his credit, Wajid Khan says “It’s just a beginning” and we, the people, remain awestruck and world awaits another astonishing creation or rather invention to come.
